Sometimes, a cosplay is just cursed. Like no matter what happens you pretty much have to push through every roadblock imaginable just to get it done. For me, that was Dr. Luna. So summer of 2016, my #TwitterSister Morgan Hoffman did this piece for an episode of InnerSpace:
Then, after hanging out with Ajay Fry at the Hal-Con 2016 After Party it occurred to me I'd never done an original character cosplay, and I needed something for next year's Fan Expo. My brain was immediately all "DING!" as I realized Dr. Luna just needed to happen. Thus I decided my cosplay first for 2017 was gonna be to do an original cosplay. I was gonna do Dr. Luna. And then it all went sideways.
First, my cosplay designer told me she had to quit building stuff for me. Her reasons were solid and she recommended someone to take over for her. Lady had helped her design a few of my other cosplays and had done quality work for others in the community. My human got the foam parts done and all was good again. Or so I thought. The woman recommended provided none of the progress photos I'd asked for, was two weeks late with my cosplay, and had screwed up the order at least three different ways. Then for good measure she talked my previous designer into delivering it for her at the last minute and completely ghosted. Stopped answering calls, messages, emails, everything. So I had to put Dr. Luna off for a year.
Then ... on May 24, 2018 ... Bell Media pulled the plug on InnerSpace. Fuck you Bell Media. So now, I had no idea if I was gonna see Morgan at Fan Expo. Still got my new stylist, Stephanie, to make Dr. Luna for me, got it at the last second and shipped myself to Toronto. Though on the way Canada Post did kick the box to the point I think they were trying to kill me. On the plus side got $80 out of them for it so ... FREE TRIP! But finally I got there and, thanks to Ajay and the Q&A he hosted ... the rest, as they say, is history. Because after all the delays, all the frustration, and all the problems, there was only one thing that mattered to me:

Even the photoshoot was a bitch to do. Literally as soon as my human got downtown ... a metric fuck ton of rain out of NOWHERE! Then, practically as soon as it was night enough to do the shoot we wanted to do ... hurricane like winds! But enjoy because we still got it done!
