http://society6.com/CeruleanBlues - Need that perfect piece of Whovian art to get autographed at a Con? Looking for that unique gift for the Brony in your life? Cerulean Blues is the place to go. The Art Store of Kelly Jo Romard, her prints are affordable and absolutely incredible. Those first two images in my fan art section? That's her work, so that should tell you right there that the girl's got skills. BUY ... HER ... ART!!
www.hal-con.com - Homepage to the biggest Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Comic Convention in Atlantic Canada, I wouldn't be here without the awesome people at Hal-Con. Well, I'd still be here, just less employed. But they're still awesome! Keep an eye on their homepage for information on guests, ticket prices and upcoming events!
www.geeksversusnerds.com - With Geeks Versus Nerds, think of shows like CrossFire ... but imagine they're funny and actually serve a purpose. Every month geeks and nerds gather to debate everything from She-Ra vs. Xena, Professor McGonnagall vs. Ms. Frizzle to Kaylee vs. Scottie and the Borg vs. the Daleks (Seriously, go to their page JUST to listen to that show!). I'm also the online magazine's official Whovian correspondent so make sure to check that out! If you're in Halifax, make sure to go to a show and try to get a story out of Fat Apollo. SO worth it!
www.drnerdlove.com - Can't figure out where that relationship is going? Trouble getting up the courage to ask out that special someone? Then Doctor NerdLove is for you! Dispensing relationship advice in geekily digestable form, Doctor NerdLove answers your questions, explains why those romantic movies are important (or why you need to stay far, FAR away from them), AND shows you how your geek heroes can positively influence your love life! He's apparently been operating since the year 20011, so Doctor NerdLove may, in fact, be that Doctor. I'm just saying ...
maritimeheavyarmour.ca - So at some point in their cosplaying lives, Geeks and Nerds get the urge to try armoured characters. But what if you have absolutely no clue where to start? Well around here, the people to talk to are the Maritime Heavy Armour troop. With Personnel ranging from genres such as Star Wars to HALO to WarHammer 40K and at least three I've never heard of, if armour design is your thing these are the people you need to talk to. They also do a lot of work raising money to fight prostate cancer cause ... well ... really this is a group that when they say "donate," wouldn't you? But seriously, they're good people who're happy to talk armour building at the drop of a bar tab. No really, the best conversation starter with them is often "Let me cover that drink for you. So, I was thinking of doing this build and ..." They're also on Facebook here.
www.steelhaven.com - Another local artist, Steelhaven's the art page of comic artist and local rapscallion (which is a word I never get to use, so I am so grateful right now!) Ben O'Liari. When not working to bring local comic books like "Shenanigan Tales" and "TEVA One" to life, Ben is also the brains behind Hal-Con's bounty hunter of choice Vinzer Flinn. Who is Vinzer Flinn? Well, take Boba Fett, keep all the skills, add cigars and way more alcohol and you've got one of the most prominent members of Maritime Heavy Armour. Check out Steelhaven, buy a print, and maybe even get it signed at a local event! I mean seriously, once the big comic companies finally recognize Ben's skills, wouldn't you want to have an O'Liari original?
